The Abstract
As a proponent of legalizing prostitution, marijuana and other recreational drugs, I wanted to know which "vice" is closest to being legalized in the court of public opinion.
I looked for similar public opinion polls on each issue, trying to see if the percentage of those polled about the issues were in fact similar.
I sampled about 40 different people from random message boards on the internet. The survey was a simple, two-question one. "Do you favor legalizing marijuana for recreational use?" and "Do you favor legalizing prostitution?" Responses were categorized with "yes", "no" and "no response".
The results were put into MINITAB, and 2-sample proportion test was performed. The test came back with a p-value of .115, so I could not reject the null hypothesis that the two proportions were equal.
