Discussion
Since the study used a survey, response bias occurred. I did not receive all the student surveys I sent out. Also, I only sent out 20 teacher surveys and I received 21 surveys with teacher circled. Some people may have given the school a bad rating if they had a recent bad experience in the school. People also have different ideas of what overall quality means. Some may have only considered the building, while others included staff and athletic facilities in their rating.
I would not extrapolate my data outside of the school since every school is different. My study would not apply to any students or teachers not currently at North Olmsted High School.
If I could have
continued my study, I would have blocked the students into grade levels and the
teachers into years of experience. I would try to run the study yearly to
see if the overall quality was decreasing, increasing, or remaining the same
over a period of several years.
