The question that I have put under study is to determine if there is some sort of association between the subject a teacher teaches and his/her favorite color. To help us reach a certain conclusion about this question, we need to work in steps starting with the Left Brain Right Brain Theory. The colors that we like are in fact rooted to the fact that all of us either use the left or right side of the brain. This theory, of the structure and functions of the mind, suggests that the left side of the brain and the right side of the brain control two different forms of thinking. The left hemisphere of the brain is the logical or analytical side. The right brain is the hemisphere of creativity/artistic ability. The left brain holds certain characteristics that the right brain does not, such as: logic(main), detail oriented, perceptions of pattern, forms strategies, and understanding of math and science. The right brain's characteristics are: risk taking, intuitive, imaginative, big picture oriented, and philosophical. http://www.funderstanding.com

These characteristics of the "two brains" shape us into who we are. Who we are makes up our personality, and our personalities reflect the colors we prefer. It has been scientifically proven that the colors we prefer are due to the makeup of our personalities, and that certain colors bring about certain moods. www.infoplease.com For example the color green symbolizes nature and relaxation and orange symbolizes energy. So through these observations we can say that the colors we like are not just preferred randomly or by our nature. The colors we like are due to the side of the brain that we use, which in response makes up our personality and interests. Finally the colors we like are in association to our personalities.

Colors play a huge role in the difference among men and women. Women like certain colors more or less than men do. Studies have shown that blue stands out more to men than women; men preferred blue to red and women preferred red to blue: men prefer orange to yellow, and women least likely at all prefer orange. Women even prefer soft colors unlike men whom prefer bright colors. www.squidoo.com/colorexpert

Another very interesting study I found that pertains to this study is the Career vs. Color experiment. According to a study done by the Dewey Color System, those who like the colors blue, green, and brown tend to hold careers that help others and inspire others. A career that definitely falls under that catergory is a teacher. So far, the amount of teachers that have been drawn in the random sample of ours that favor the color blue is about 38%. That's a pretty big number for one color itself.  http://www.creativepro.com/article/test-finds-correlation-between-favorite-colors-and-careers
According to another website, the color blue is the color of academics that "should be used in a science or math classroom". http://educationalissues.suite101.com/article.cfm/color_and

Overall in my findings, I found that there is some sort of association within the teaching field and the teachers favorite colors'. So far throughout my sampling, most teachers prefer green and mostly blue. When looking up the affects of blue and green in a psychological perspective, I have found studies that show those who like blue and green would be in a career suce as teaching. I do not think that there is a relationship among the different departments of school subjects, but that there is definitely a relationship with teachers in general and their favorite colors'.
