             FOR Males compared to females
They say boys like math and science and girls like social studies and English.
Is it really true?

Discussion

Weaknesses

Some possible sources of weakness include non-clear instructions.  In the survey, we had some students who circled one subject in each of the two combinations.  We were forced to disregard these specific surveys from our study.  If the students were answering truthfully, then we accidentally distributed some surveys and prefilled the incorrect gender.  Response bias may be present, but it is hard to definitively determine its extent.  We received 110 surveys back, indicating unresponsive bias.  Due to time constraints, we were forced disregard surveys received after a certain point.

Extrapolate

We can extrapolate our findings to the entire North Olmsted High School student body.  It would not be appropriate to extrapolate to the entire country as academic preference may vary by geographic location.

Further Study

For further study, this same study could be performed on many more high schools.  In repeating this study, we would be able to further extrapolate our findings.  If random high school students were selected across the entire United States, we could be have a better idea if our findings are a true representation of the entire United States.
