Weaknesses
A. The study may have been stronger if we used a larger sample
size. Although our sample size fits the assumptions for our test, we
would have preffered to have a larger sample so our results would be
more accurate to the truth. Another weakness of your study may be that
some students were excluded from the study simply because they are not
at school for most of the day. Students who took Polaris or PSEOP
are not included, which could make our study slightly biased.
Also, we could have surveyed two or more people from the same family,
which would make our sample innaccurate. Luckily this did not
happen, but we should have prepared a solution for when two people from
the same family were sampled.
Extrapolation
B. We could certainly
extrapolate our data to schools in our area that have
similar demographics. Though we are not comfortable extrapolating
our data to all other school in the nation, as the proportion of each
political party changes drastically from state to state. North
Olmsted High School only represents a small amount of the views of the
people in the United States.
Recommendations for Further Research
C. Further research could include sampling many more high
schools across the nation, though the ideal study for this type of
question would be a census that asked about political views and total
children number. We would like to get a sample from the entire
nation, because simply our school is not enough to suggest a
relationship between political views and reproductive choices.
