Discussion
One of the main weaknesses to the study is the respone bias. Many people wouldn't respond or haven't taken the test yet. Another weakness is that there is a greater chance a senior might take the ACT than juniors, and they have, according to the results. While the surveys were sent out, it was at a time when people had just taken the ACT, and many of them hadn't received their scores yet. One of the most obvious weakness is people wouldn't want to reveal their score, even though they weren't required to write their name on the survey. I would extrapolate to other local highschools such as Westlake, Olmsted Falls, and North Ridgeville. I think it would also be interesting to survey people in private schools such as St.Eds and Magnificot to see how they compare academically since they are private and an all boys and an all girls school. I would also compare them to the public schools. Sugestions for further work may include observing which schools students go to for higher scores and the same for people who earned a lower score. I would ask the sample if they have previously taken the ACT to see if it has helped to improve their score. Other questions might include: why they took the ACT, if they also took the SAT, and how much they have studied for those tests. Last, I would compare the results of scores for the ACT and SAT to see which gender studied more for either test.
