WEAKNESSES

A weakness of our study is that grade level might be a factor on color preference. We originally planned to survey 39 freshmen, 35 sophomores, 42 juniors, and 34 seniors. Not only did we not ask the grade level on our survey, we also didn’t account for the original differences in the amount of people asked in each grade level. The numbers of juniors that were sent a survey is 8 people higher than number of seniors that were sent a survey. If there’s a response bias and a large number of seniors (or even sophomores, at 35 people) refused to respond, then the data wouldn’t apply as strongly to those class levels; however, we wouldn’t know if there’s a response bias in grade levels, because that wasn’t accounted for in our survey.

Another weakness with our study is the age difference within students simply because of the maturity issue, because the younger students prefer different color than the older students.

We also had nonresponse bias beacuse out of 150 surveys we only received
back 94 valid ones.

EXTRAPOLATION

The results of this survey should only apply to students of North Olmsted High School. The results only apply to students because teachers weren’t sampled. Only students at NOHS can be generalized from the results of this survey because geography might have an impact on the preference of car colors.

SUGGESTIONS

Future work in this study should account for class level. By accounting for class level, experimenters would be able to notice any significant differences in car color preferences among different ages.
