According to techcrunch.com: Apples new bigger iPhone 6, has been selling record numbers of its older and newer model smartphones in the last few months. If you observe the green chart at the bottom of the article it shows a general trend of iphone percentage sales going up compared to Android sales in major countries. Apple have also passed Andriod in U.S. device sales for the first time in 3 years. Apple sold more Iphones in the Q4 than all android devices since 2012. The article concludes with a quote on why apple has had such recent success, performance also points to Apple having its strongest portfolio ever. With a range of devices available at different price points in both contract and pre-pay, Apple was able to take advantage of a weaker Android offering at the premium end of the market.

In this article there was research conducted from November through February 2013, Kantar Worldpanel Comtech showed sales of all Android phones are significantly larger than iPhone sales by a margin of  52.1 % to 43.5% . Using past Kantar studies, these numbers are due to a certain time period and could be caused  at one particular point in time rather than a permanent reality. To show this is true, last year, they had Android at the top for a while , and then they said that iOS had come back into first place.

The article tells us right away that Apple is the king of smartphones. They support  this opinion when they give the stat that Apple owns more than 90% of all profits in the smartphone business. The author writes that Apple reported sales of about 47.5 million iPhones during its third fiscal quarter. That follows sales of 61.2 million and 74.5 million during its first and second quarters, respectively. These numbers are a direct correlation of the release of the Iphone 6 and 6 plus.
