My
study is to find out the proportion between members that
crossfit in the morning vs. members that crossfit in the
evening. Every crossfit gym has a wall where you can see
every day of the week and what workout was scheduled for
that day and who went to that class. So I went to several
crossfit gyms to see exactly who went to the morning classes
from 5am-11am and 12pm-6pm.
When going to these gyms I
noticed that there was a relationship to more females in the
morning and more males in the afternoon. I asked a couple of
people in the morning classes why they chose this and the
majority of them said that they like to get their workout
over with, so that they have time for other things in the
evening. The majority of people who crossfit have jobs,
family, and other activities that they have to do later in
the evening. So crossfitting in the morning makes their life
a little easier. Depending on the gym though, and their
class hours, the morning class could be the most popular or
the evening class. The crossfit gym in North Olmsted,
Fullsterkur, has more female members than male. However
going to the crossfit in Bay Village, Burning River, there
members are about even.
When looking up surveys on
crossfit members, whether or not they go in the morning vs
afternoon, I read a lot of the same answers I was getting at
several gyms I have gone to. The members would rather go in
the morning because they want to get their workout over with
and have more time for other activities in the afternoon or
to spend time with family. Or, the members
would rather go in the
afternoon just because they are not morning people and have
to work all day and would want to work out later in the day.

From what I also found
online about this is that more women are motivated to be
physically fit and independent than men are. Majority of the
crossfit gyms I have gone to have more women members than
male. However more women, especially in the morning, go to
crossfit to get their daily workout. When asking people as
well why they liked the morning classes the women would tell
me, it’s easier because they have children and they can take
them to they gym with them in the morning, or because they
are morning people. Whether or not someone was for the
morning or afternoon class, everyone enjoys crossfit for the
atmosphere and how much people support they get from one
another while working out. Observing some of the classes, a
lot of the women would try to motivate other people into
working harder. This is a big reason why they come back for
more even though the workouts are pure hell. Usually, after
a couple weeks of observing you start to notice the regulars
and what time of day they like to come in, which helped with
the survey on whether or not there are more women or male
crossfit members that go in the morning classes vs.
afternoon classes.

From what I concluded on
about my research is that the majority of the women will go
to the morning class due to their schedule, just because
they are a morning person, or because of the other people
that go to that class time. After doing crossfit for a
length of time you develop friends and people who motivate
you to be better. Usually you will see the same members at
the same time every morning because they feel more
comfortable around people they have worked out with for an
extended amount of time.
