We determined that there was not statistically significant evidence to suggest that NOHS seniors are more school-spirited than NOHS freshmen based on sporting event attendance. We failed to reject the null hypothesis at the 0.05 significance level because our p-value > alpha. Therefore, there was not sufficient evidence to suggest that the true proportion of NOHS seniors who have attended at least one NOHS sporting event in the past school year is greater than the true proportion of NOHS freshmen who have attended at least one NOHS sporting event in the past school year. However, we are unable to conclude that NOHS seniors are not more school-spirited than NOHS freshmen because high school sporting event attendance is only one possible aspect of school-spirit. Practically-speaking, our study has led to more questions than answers with regard to the school-spirit in our high school.
