If at first you don't succeed, check your sample size. Remember that n > 30 for t and z (non-proportion) tests!

The purpose of our study was to determine the association, if any, between a person's preferred genre of music and his or her level of procrastination.

Because we did not send out a sufficient amount of surveys (only 40) we were unable to come up with a valid conclusion for our study. We only received 30 surveys back from the participants. with one being blank, and four not following directions.

We decided to use a Chi-Square Goodness-of-Fit test to test to determine if an association existed in our study. However, again, because of the low number of responses, our expected cell counts were all too small (less than five).

After running through the motions of a Chi-Square test using the data received, we rejected the null hypothesis, that the procrastination level was homogeneous for each genre of music. Therefore had the sample size been large enough, we would have had sufficient to say that the true average levels of procrastination differs for each genre of music. However, this conclusion is not valid because our sample our expected cell counts were too small.
