While using Google we stumbled across some pretty good articles that discussed fast food consumption. There have been studies done that talk about fast food intake that we found with one that specifically identified itself as a observational study that with in it had a break down of percents of males and females which relates closely to our study. http://www.jacn.org/cgi/content/full/23/2/163. Within this study it stated that fast food was consumed by 30% of males’ surveyed and 23.5% of females surveyed. This supports our alternative hypothesis that males eat fast food more then females.
Also we found some slightly off topic but still partly related that stated that the USA has the largest amount of money spent on fast food in a year which points out the problem Americans have with consumption of unhealthy food. This statistic was stated many web sites although I didn’t get a web address for all of them. A study done by the University of Minnesota, http://www.ahc.umn.edu/news/releases/projecteat033009/home.html compares the ratio of males to females regarding fast food consumption at different stages of school life.
The country is slowly shifting towards a great dependency on fast food. As this other article states, Americans eat fast food during about 16.2 monthly visits to our favorite establishments. In the article it also states that males lead females in the race to eat the most fast food which is consistent with the other articles already stated and other minor sources we have run across.
So we have searched low and high, right and left, inside and out, to bring you the main points and links we have found that already exist that relate and deal similarly with the study we are about to commence. The links and thought we have brought you are the best representations of what is out there. There are more articles although most are vague and give more background and information but lack quality. So, we have stuck with the ones provided.
