Discussion

After completing our study, we found a few weaknesses in our procedure.  First of all, we wrote the names of the students on our surveys which would cause some bias in our study.  Secondly, we made too many categories to run the chi-squared test so we had to group a few of the categories together.  This took up some of our time and will not allow us to better predict the affects of extracurricular activities versus GPA.  Since we used a stratified sample, we did not have any confounding variables.

We feel comfortable extrapolating our study to all other high schools across the country.  We are comfortable doing this because the amount of time spent on extracurricular activities should be about the same at all high schools.  We also believe that the GPA of the students at North Olmsted High School will reflect the GPA of other high school students across the country.  We could expand our study to include all levels of schooling from elementary schools through colleges.  This would allow us to see the affects of extracurricular activities on the GPA of all school aged students.
