Conclusion

After running two model utility tests for a simple linear regression, we realized that there was no useful relationship between height and time for male track runners and also no useful relationship for height and time for female track runners. Since there was no useful relationship between the variables for both genders, the differences of correlations could not be compared, since the correlations were both near zero. Thus, the final aspect of our study, the comparison of the relationships with respect to each other could not be completed.

Even if the data had yielded useful results, our conclusions could still be in question. Due to many extraneous factors ranging from weather to athletic ability, our sample did not adequately represent the population. Despite our controls, a more involved and precise study would need to be performed in order to confirm or disprove our findings.
