Weaknesses: Our original sample was supposed to be 150 students but we had to change that to 100 students because 150 students would be over 10% of the total population of the student list that we received and we were required to have a sample size of less than 10% of the list which consisted of 1500 students. Another weakness is that some students may have lied and said that they never quit a sport even though they had or they lied and said they did quit a sport even though they were removed. Another weakness is non response bias because people could have not anwsered at all or just thrown their survey sheet away and therefore we have no response for that person.
Extrapolation: Because the study involves only students in our high school we could have included middle school or elementary school sports as well. We also could have broadened to include students in all middle high schools in the state or even all middle schools and high schools in the country.
Suggestions: We could have surveyed a larger group of students. Also, we could have surveyed other high schools to make our study more reliable and unbiased because students of NOHS know that students are doing AP Stats surveys and that could lead to response bias. Surveying students of other high schools would have shown a similar or different set of data because of the experiences they have had during those sports and the schools focus and enthusiasm for those sports.
