We obtained our samples by using the entire population of North Olmsted High School students from a numbered list.  We first took a random sample of 150 students from the list by using a random generator.  After getting 150 students, we sorted them out by their last names in alphabetical order.  Then we went to the schools guidance office and looked up the selected students schedules.  We then assigned a survey to each sample student.  Then we gave all the surveys to our instructor to distribute to the teachers.

AP STATS SURVEY         JSVV

How many bathrooms are in your house?________________
How many people live in your house?___________________

 T-Test
We gave out 150 surveys, 84 were returned and 81 were adequately filled out.

The T-Test is used for this study.

Ho: the true average mean for Salt Lake City's number of bathrooms per family unit
Ho:
μ = 2
Ha: μ > 2
Significance level:
a=0.05
Assumptions:
This test requires a random sample and either a large sample size or approximately a normal population distribution.  Since our sample was randomly chosen by the Minitab number generator the sample size= 81, the T-Test is appropriate.

Computations:

We used a Ti-84 plus calculator and entered all the information into a List, L1.
T= 5.719808963
P-value=8.88465 E -8
n= 81
