Purpose

The purpose of our study is to determine if the mean number of partners a male student dances with is greater than the mean number of partners a female student dances with at a high school-sponsored dance.  Normally at a high school dance, the male approaches the female and asks her to dance while the female waits for an invitation to dance.  From our experience at past school dances, it seems accurate to say that males dance with more people than females throughout the night.  We want to discover if our prediction is true.
