Conclusion

We fail to reject the null hypothesis at the 0.05 level of significance because the p-value of 0.242 is greater than our α. Therefore there is  insufficient evidence to say that the true proportion of males in North Olmsted, Ohio registered to vote is different than the true proportion of females in North Olmsted, Ohio registered to vote. After gathering our data and running the two proportions z-test, we calculated a p-value of 0.242 which means we failed to see a difference between the proportion of males who are registered compared to the proportion of females who are registered. This test showed that our original hypothesis of the two proportions being unequal was false because there wasn’t enough evidence to say that there was a difference between the proportions at all.
