The Purpose of our Study
The purpose of the study was to determine if, in the student body of North Olmsted High School, the proportion of students with iPhones is greater than the proportion of students with Android phones. Additionally, we are attempting to determine if there is an association between gender and a particular type of phone.
ABSTRACT:
We began our study by searching for
similar studies that were performed in the past. We found
several other articles that dealt with the popularity of Android
phones versus iPhones, and found that in the general population
the there is a greater proportion of Androids. On another website
we found a survey that stated that males generally prefer Androids
while women prefer iPhones. We performed a survey in our
school, with our sample being 123 students. In the first
test, we found that the proportion of iPhones at North Olmsted
High School is greater than the proportion of Android phones at
North Olmsted High School. In the second test, we found that
there is no relationship between phone type and gender in the
population of our high school. In conclusion, our results
did not match those found in the background research of our study.
Our study shows that there is a greater proportion of iPhones in
our school, while there is a greater proportion of Android phones
found in the prior studies. Also, we found no relationship
between gender and type of phone, while there is one in the prior
studies.
