Teachers' Cars Age vs. Students' Car Age
Statement of the Problem
We decided to conduct research on the ages of cars driven by students and teachers at North Olmsted High School. We found this topic interesting because when many people consider teenagers getting a car they picture them getting an old hand me down, beat up car. However, when you look around the student parking lot some students have rather nice, new cars. We feel as though the amount of teachers that will have “new” cars will be greater than students, but we just aren’t sure. Our actual question is: “Is the average age of vehicles teachers drive to school lower than the mean age of vehicles students drive?” We plan to survey students and teachers asking them how old their car is (what year model it is) and then we can compute the average age of vehicles driven by students in this school and the average age of vehicles driven by the teachers.
