Sampling Method

Our sample was a random selection of  50 North Olmsted High School Teachers

We received a list of the entire North Olmsted High School faculty from Mrs. Caso and entered them all into minitab. Then using minitab’s calc- random data-sample from column we randomly selected  50 teachers whom we questioned with a survey.

 

The Study

Our survey was just one question:

1.)        How many times did you change your college major before graduating?

 

Teachers were free to answer however they choose and were not limited to an answer.

Ho= The average number of times a college student changes their major is 3 times

Ha= The average number of times a college student changes their major is not 3 times

alpha= 0.05

assumption:  random sample, our bar graph appears fairly normal, samples were independant

P value=0.000

we reject the null hypothesis at any reasonable level of signifcance because our p value is less then alpha. therefore we have suffient evidence to say the average time you change your college major is not 3.
