Extrapolation

My study may not be extrapolated to any other school or college because there may be a variance in preference due to location and economic status.  This study was conducted in only one high school in a suburban area and the results of this study could change as it moves to a rural or city location.  The students in North Olmsted High School may have a better or worse economic status than people in other schools or colleges and could either afford the more expencive apperal or not be able to afford it.  Further more, due to the fact that four of the cells have counts that are bellow five, invalidating any conclusions based on preference.  The only effective way that a true representation of all high schools can be represented is to send out the same proportion of surveys to every high school in the desired area that you wish.

Weaknesses

As I conducted my survey, several weaknesses became apparent to me.  One of these weaknesses was that there was a responce biased because of the 300 surveys that I sent out, I only recieved 186 surveys back which means there was a responce bias of 114 people who did not respond or they did not fill the survey in correctly.  Some of the ways that people incorrectly filled out the survey was by not filling the survey out at all, not filling out whether they are a boy or girl, not filling out what they prefer, and not circling if they are an athlete or not.  Another weakness that I encountered was that there were four cells that the counts were bellow five causing any conclusion invalid.

Suggestions

For anyone who would want to conduct a similar survey to mine, I would offer them some helpful suggestions.  One suggestion that I wolud propose would be for them to expand the study to others schools in various locations differing in economic status and population in the city and schools.  The effect that this would have on the study is by allowing the new researcher to extrapolate the results to a larger population
