Sampling

We obtained our samples by typing out 75 of the same yes or no survey that asked the question, Did you fill out a NCAA March Madness bracket this year? Then we waited for our surveys to be returned and enter all the ones we got back, which was 46. The population of intrest was the number of students at North olmsted high school who fill out March Madness Brackets because these brackets are one of the biggest events in college sports and we just wanted to know who actually cares about this tournament. The sample was randomly selected high school students who then had their survey sent to their study hall. Not all of them were basketball fans and not all were not fans of basketball but they were all randomly selected North Olmsted students.

Significance Test

1.  µ1=Sample of people who did fill out a NCAA March Madness bracket

      µ2=Sample of people who did not fill out a NCAA March Madness bracket

2.Ho=µ1>µ2

3. α= 0.05

4.gay

5.t-interval = (0.2101,0.5010)

6.45>30 all assumptions are met.

7. t-value= -216.785

8. p-value= 1.0000

9. We reject the null hypothesis at the 0.05 level of significance because the p-value is >  α. Therefore, there is not sufficient evidence to say that the true mean of students that have made NCAA March Madness brackets is less than our hypothesized value.
