In conclusion, we cannot say for sure that one group or the other is smarter. Our study showed that within the sample, musicians studied a little more, and they earned only a slightly higher GPA. The mean GPA’s came out fairly similar, and we failed to reject the null hypothesis that musicians are smarter. Even if we had received a bit more honest data, we would probably still not have a high enough p value to reject. In other words, there really is not much of a difference in intelligence levels between athletes and musicians.
