introduction
The purpose of our study was to see if female students were more likely to be exempt from a traffic violation than male students. We began our study by doing research to see if similar studies have ever been conducted. Unfortunately, we were unable to find any similar studies. We found studies that dealt with our same population of interest, yet none of them were relevant enough to base ours off of. For our particular study we decided to North Olmsted High School juniors and seniors. We felt that in limiting our survey to upper classmen, we were more likely to be surveying students who actually had their drivers licenses. Using Minitab, we randomly selected 100 juniors and 100 seniors to participate in our survey. The survey asked their age, sex, and whether or not they had their drivers license. If they answered no, that was the end of their survey. However, if they answered yes two more questions followed dealing with how many times they’ve been pulled over by the police and how many traffic citations they’ve received. Unfortunately, only 134 of the 200 surveys were returned back to us.
