Early Stages of the Study

Being students of a high school, we were curious as to whether or not students and teachers could agree open how disrespectful different actions are. Since technology and honourifics seem to be a highly controversial topic amongdt teachers and students, we decided to survey the teachers and students of our high school about the two aforementioned topics. We began to write up our survey, which comprmised of the surveyees to circle whether they were a student or a teacher. After that, we set up a scale ranging from 1, not disrespectful at all, to 10, extremely disrespectful. We asked those who were being surveyed to circle the numerical value which was representative of their feelings towards the topic, and this was to be done for both technology and lack of use of honourifics.

Concluding Stages of the Study

After the surverys were returned to us, we witnessed quite a bit of response bias, especially from the teachers, whom we only received 27 surveys back from the 50 we sent out. The students were not very cooperative either, only returning 49 out of the original 100 we sent out. We decided to analyze the results that we had using a 2-sample t-test. However, we cannot make any final conclusions from our study because the Central Limit Theorem does not hold true for the teachers, meaning that the sample size was not normal, so we cannot compare their results to those of the students.
