Background Research

I needed to find out if any one else has ever done research on my topic. I began my research by going into google and searching "coffee consumption in teens" and "proportion of teens who drink coffee".No one has done a study on the proportion of teens that drink coffee from what I found on the internet but, some studies have been done on proportion of coffee drunken in twenty year olds. They found that coffee has been on a rise for twenty year olds in the past couple of years. I would predict that this increase in consumption of coffee is due to mainstream coffee shops like Starbucks, school stress, caffeine addiction, and late nights. According to the National Coffee Association, young people are now the fastest growing group of coffee drinkers. The American Dietetic Association says that coffee is on a rise among teens, saying that teens buying coffee in restaurants and cafes increased by 12%. The percentage of teens that go to gourmet coffee shops has increased from 10% to 13% in a year or two. The percentage of 18 to 24 year olds that drink coffee has also been on a rise in the past 8 years from 24% to 37%. Even though this is about 20 year olds, if coffee consumption is on the rise for them more or likely its on the rise for teens too.
