After searching Google, we decided to utilize https://scholar.google.com/ in order to find any relevant studies. We searched “scholarchip” and “student ID”. We found these sites:
https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/abstract/document/6287164
https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/abstract/document/7350708
The first site led us to a paper titled Web-based student attendance system using RFID technology that described an attendance system using Radio Frequency Identification technology in place of having students sign themselves in on a sheet of paper. This site requires logging in to read the entire paper, so one of us made an account and logged in and still could not get the paper, so we assumed that the paper was not for public access.
The second site led us to another paper titled Student Attendance Management System with Bluetooth Low Energy Beacon and Android Devices that detailed another attendance system that involved using student-worn IDs that could be scanned through android phones by receiving first a number through the Bluetooth Low energy beacon in order to keep students from registering in when they are not in the classroom. This paper came from the same site and we had the same problem accessing the paper.
In all, as a group, we’ve come to the conclusion that the studies that have been done regarding our same leading question, if any, are not available to the public.
