Weaknesses
Some of the weaknesses of our study include some of the difficulties that we had in the beginning trying to collect our data. We had originally tried to tally all of the kids coming through the lunch room doors at the beginning of the period. We had a lot of trouble trying to catch all of the kids as they came into the lunch room so we eventually had to redo the way we were collecting data. Another weakness of our study is the CCP kids who don’t come in in the morning and the students who either don’t come to lunch or don’t have a lunch. Our sample was our population, but we couldn’t always keep track of everyone. Not all of the kids at the high school came in during the time we were observing in the morning and not all kids come to lunch so it becomes difficult to actually catch all of them for all three days.
Extrapolation
We do not suggest extrapolation for our study. Since this is the first year that North Olmsted High School is using IDs, there is a different attitude towards them than there might have been at schools that have been using IDs for years now. Also with our CCP programs as well as SITES, there are often times that we are missing kids at the school and so they wouldn’t have been accounted for in our study. For future work on the subject, we suggest a full sweep of all the students in the high school to get a more accurate proportion. We also suggest that this test be redone in later years after the stigma about having to wear IDs has become less prominent.
