Multiple weaknesses could have affected the results of our study. One weakness was that the some of the people being asked which brand they preferred had some classmates yelling out which brand they should say. This is an example of response bias. Another weakness is the non-response bias in which we started with a sample of 45 people and could only reach 33 to survey.
We feel comfortable extrapolating our data with all student athletes in North Olmsted. We would not, however, be comfortable with sharing these results with student athletes outside of North Olmsted High School because there could different responses based on different factors like their location. To improve or widen our results, we could suggest surveying student athletes all over the country to get a more accurate feel for which brand (Nike, Adidas, or Under Armour) is preferred nation wide.
