We chose this topic because we thought it would be interesting to find out if there is a significantly dominating brand in sports apparel among student athletes. Both of us are student athletes and we both have varying opinions on which brand we prefer. We wanted to figure out if there was an even amount of people that prefer Nike, Under Armour, or Adidas.

Do student athletes prefer one brand of sports apparel over another between Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour? This is the question that we tried to answer with this study.

First, looking at the background information, we could find information on the individual brands but we could not find a specific study similar to the one we conducted. We decided to use a random sample of 45 winter student athletes at North Olmsted High School and we asked them which brand they prefered.We gave them the choices of Nike, Under Armour, and Adidas. We were only able to ask 33 of the 45 generated students. After performing the chi-squared goodness of fit test, we found that the p-value is well below the significance level and were able to reject the null hypothesis. Therefore, we have sufficient evidence to conclude that there is not an even distribution among student athletes at North Olmsted High School.
