Discussion
Weaknesses
There were a few weaknesses with our study. Some of the surveys we got back weren't completely filled out and we couldn't use them as part of our data because insufficient data was filled out. We also didn't get some surveys back due to some students being withdrawn or not even in that study hall or class which contributed to our non-response bias. Our survey could have been more descriptive. For example, we could have given more options for the ice cream toppings. Some confounding variables could be whether the student even eats ice cream; they could be lactose and tolerant.
Extrapolation
We could have extrapolated by seeing what students' overall favorite ice cream topping is instead of just limiting them to just four choices. We also could have extrapolated our study by doing the same study on adults and other high school students at other schools.
Further Study
We could have furthered our study by stratifying by grade (9-12). This would have allowed us to be able to see not only if females prefer chocolate topping over males but we could distinguish which grade it is most evident in.
