In the end, we cannot make a complete analysis of our data because we failed our assumptions in our significance test, with 2 of our cell counts being less than 5. However, if this assumption is overlooked, we can...
"We can reject the null hypothesis at the 0.01 level of significance because the p-value is less than α. Therefore, there is sufficient evidence to say that there is an association between a person's gender and their strength of belief in global warming."
This finding did surprise us, for we did not really think that we would find an association between these two variables, or at least a strong enough one to allow us to reject our null hypothesis. Although we did have to put the data into groups in order to complete the test and it was technically invalid, we are confident that further manipulation of the groups would have allowed for the assumptions to be met and the result to be the same.
