To get a sample for our study, we created a series of questions and randomly selected 70 students from a master list to receive the survey. The questions were: gender, number of social media accounts, time spent using social media, grade level, and cumulative GPA. Those selected had the survey given to them during study hall. The sticky note with their name was removed so there was no way to link them back to their answer. Of the 70 surveys, we got around 45 back, meaning the other 25 contributed to a nonresponse bias. Five of these were not fully filled out so we couldn’t use them.
beta= the slope of the line between time spent on social media and GPA
Ho: beta=0
Ha: beta≠0
α = 0.05
t=(B-beta)/sb
